Learning About SchoologyYou'll find lots of opportunities this school year to learn about using Schoology (there are even some trainings later this month - see below), but for now, we also have some self-paced opportunities that you might be interested in. If you watch the following sessions, you'll know just enough about Schoology to be dangerous, so give these a look when you get a chance - Session One - Session Two Note: you can login to your Schoology account at this link - https://southsanisd.schoology.com/ - simply sign in using your South San Google account. Quick Chrome TipsDo you need to set a timer ASAP? Do you need to flip a coin to solve a dispute in your classroom? Would you like to roll a digital die? Well then, Chrome's got you covered! Check out this Tweet from @emmacottier to get started. I was extremely surprised with all you can do with Google Chrome.
Interactive Projector HelpMany of you in the district have the Maxell interactive projector in your classroom. It's a short-throw projector that turns a surface into an interactive surface. My guess is that the majority of you are using the projector as simply that - a projector. I'd like to make you aware of a whole new world that you're currently most likely not tapping into. It's the world of interactivity. You can set up your projector to allow for the ability to interact with the board just as you would with your laptop and a mouse. You'll need the pens that came with the projector and a USB cable to pull this off. To learn everything you need to know about the projector, check out the videos on this help document. Also, don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the projector. We'd be glad to help out! Post-It Note Teaching
Digital Interactive Notebook Ideas
If, after watching the video, you'd like to give it a try yourself, have a look at this resource that offers a free digital notebook template. Feel free to also head over to Ditch That Textbook to find another template and 20 activity ideas for interactive notebooks. I think you'll love them! As always, don't hesitate to reach out to us if you'd like help making this happen in your classroom. PD OpportunitiesI'd like to call to your attention some upcoming PD opportunities at Region 20. Have a look at this document to become fully aware of all that Region 20 Digital Age Learning Department has to offer in the near future. Many of the opportunities are listed as "free," but there are some that are not. One little tip that will be helpful to note is that some of the offerings have this message attached: "Free to PDSC and Educational Resources Co-op Members" If you see that message, then rejoice! South San subscribes to the Educational Resources Co-op! Enjoy deepening your learning.
